Technology

The products of StarPool Company are made from high quality materials which possess certificates that permit their use in many branches all over the world, including the most rigorous, i.e. the food industry. From these products the drinking water storage tanks, small ponds, yachts, planes, etc are made Therefore the applied materials are 100% safe for people.

Gelcoats

The majority of products made from unsaturated polyester resins possess the gelcoat layer. This layer has the considerable influence on the quality of the final product. The gelcoat- its quality - determines the product aesthetics both at the time of purchase and during its exploitation. The gelcoat resistance to aging, atmospheric and other abrasive factors, scratching and to mechanical damage, substantially determine the durability of the product. One cannot forget about the protective role of the gelcoat, which must protect the laminate against the effects of external factors. It is particularly relevant in case of the laminates, in which the moisture or chemically aggressive media penetration along the fibreglass leads to the rapid destruction of the laminate.

The role of gelcoat layer:

  • It masks the laminate pattern, creates the aesthetic surface (the colour gelcoat, the white gelcoat)
  • It intensifies the pattern, the product surface (the transparent gelcoat)
  • It hardens the surface
  • It protects the surface against the moisture, water, chemicals, vapours penetration
  • It gives the smooth surface and the gloss
  • It forms easily washable surface

This is the most important layer of the product and determines in almost 60 % the quality of the final product. The even appliance of the gelcoat is possible only with the use of specialist machines, which our company has bought, as we invest in 100% in quality. The unquestionable leader of this branch is American potentate GlassCraft. There are still companies which use the so called swabbing method for the manufacturing process, i.e. they lay the gelcoat manually, which carries the risk of uneven appliance of the first layer. The human hand is not perfect and the gelcoat is a gelatinous substance, which while manually applied is thick in one place and in the other thin- almost minimal, and consequently the client is charged for the lack of the proper machines, because after the expiry of the warranty the company is not responsible for the product faults. 24 months long warranties are obligatory in the European Union, and during this time all of the faults shall become visible. Unfortunately, there are companies which promise 5, 10 and even 20 years lasting warranties, but this is contrary to the law and testifies only to the lack of honesty of particular company, which lures the client only with the empty promises.

Resin barrier

The next layer, after the gelcoat, consists of the isophthalic resin which is applied on the powdery glass mat of the weight of 300 microns, which provides the additional protective measure against water penetration to the inside of the product. This resin is recommended for the manufacturing process of the high chemical resistance equipment and for the equipment which use involves contact with water.

Structural resin

This type of resin is used in order to create the structural layer, which serves the function of the load carrier layer, which ensures the product stiffness characteristics and when blended with the fibre-glass mat it gives an extraordinary effect that in some cases may even surpass metal characteristics. It has been experimentally proved that when glass content varies between 70-75%, the rest is constituted by resin. Glass may take the form of the mat, glass fibre or a fibre blend placed with resin and he stiffening substance onto the product (the so-called rowing technology). Wolfangel is the leading company of this branch, whose machinery we use in the process of our product creation, in order to ensure the best possible quality.
Our technology department page of the website could discuss the multitude of issues related to organic chemistry but due to the abundance and complexity of which we are ready to provide them as an answer to the placed enquiry you might be interested to place.

Assembly

Assembly of the pool should take place on a prior properly prepared concrete slab of the total thickness ranking between 10-15 cm with a ? 8 ribbed reinforcement bar, with a loop every 20 cm. This provides the proper protection to the pool for many years without the worry that the supporting layers of the ground shall be subject to moving, washing out or sitting down. Pool stairs are bricked with concrete blocks and the fissure between the stairs and edge of the pool is to be filled with polyurethane foam or is to be wedged. Then pour about 20cm of water into the pool cover the walls of the pool with dry concrete with application of 1:4 ratio in the same amount of about 20cm. The covering layer should be dry cause if wet it may cause the deformation of walls. When the Mount of the covering layer becomes equivalent to the amount of water, which is up to about 20 cm, sprinkle the covering layer with water, which by drying shall form a stiff ring around the pool. The cycle should be repeated numerously until the whole swimming pool excavation pit has been covered up. If an assembly company shall recommend the settling of a pool straight on the sand layer, they should be asked what type of warranty they shall give against the settling of the pool, which may cause the fact that the pool edge very often made of expensive materials such as ceramics, wood, granite etc. will hang above the pool level. If anyone should suggest in order to cover the edges of the pool with sand only they should be asked what would happen during the process of water replacement in the spring, winter protection action or in the process of assembly of Any additional elements. The 100% warranty is given that the pool will not collapse. What should be remembered is the fact that rain water, snow and heavy damp ground is an uncontrolled force that may literally break the pool. One may say that a pool should never be completely emptied – it is obvious that a pool may be restored by purification of the remaining winter water and with application of huge costs and a lot of time, scrape the walls of the pool , but this is a truly difficult work. After the season of its usage and in the process of preparation of the pool for the winter months, the pool should be completely emptied and walls as well as bottom of the pool cleaned and filled with water again. A swimming pool investment is a serious task and any cost saving attempts will come back double later on. Sometimes it is not worth to save as sometimes you have to buy the same thing twice.

Permission

From 2004 it is obligatory in Poland to notify The Building Supervision Inspectorate about the fact of constructing of a pool up to the surface of 30m2, 30 days prior to the planned construction of the pool. This responsibility always rests on the investor. It is required to obtain a building permission for any ponds and pools surpassing the total surface of 30m2.
